Tonight was Glitter Glam at our church. Katelyn had been counting down the days all week until tonight so she could become the Glitter Princess! It's an event put on by our church to let the young girls get all prettied up and then have a message about how beautiful they are just they way God made them. It was crazy at the church tonight. There were about 250 girls - yes 250 girls! Around the church were stations where the girls could have make-up, nails, and hair done. Then there were also stations for the girls to do crafts and a room for dinner. There was not a dull moment! After the stations, the girls receive a message from the Bible. They were asked to write down what they like best about themselves, and Katelyn said that she likes her beautiful princess dress best. I think her favorite part about tonight was spending the evening with her best friend, Kendall. They are friends from preschool, but we just learned that Kendall also attends Flipside, but just hadn't been on a Sunday in awhile. So now Katelyn can look forward to seeing her on Sundays and during the week.

Family Camping
We went on our first camping trip as a family of 4. We made reservations at the beginning of Spring Break because we wanted to do something fun with the kids. However, we didn't know that the weather forecast would be for rain that night and the next day, but the camp wouldn't refund us the money, so we decided to head to the campground and at least enjoy the day and later decide whether to stay the night or not. I'm so glad that we did that and didn't just cancel the trip. The campground was in Chino, pretty close to our house. The kids had a blast at the playground and around the lake. We brought soccer balls so Evan mainly enjoyed kicking those around. The downside of the trip was not just the rain in the forecast, but we also had a lot of wind so it was really cold. We couldn't really get a fire going so after dinner and cold s'mores we got into our tent for the night. Thankfully I brought some cards and we all enjoyed a long game of War. The kids loved it and Evan even said it was his favorite part. We decided to give the night a try. We took our smaller tent so all four of us were lined up and even with the body heat, it was still pretty cold (at least to me). Katelyn went to sleep pretty quick and was out. Ken, Evan, and I struggled more trying to get to sleep. Evan kept rubbing his nose with some allergies and Ken was worried about him. We were trying to decide whether to stay or go home. It had started raining just a little bit, but with fear of it raining even harder through night and into morning, and with Evan not sleeping, I decided we should pack up and go home. It just didn't seem right to stay camping just to say that we made it through the night if we were all going to be miserable the next day (and we only had a 1 night reservation). So, we put sleepy/grumpy Evan in the car. Then we packed up everything in and out of the tent except Kate. She was the last part before taking down the tent. She actually woke up pretty calm and stayed awake the whole drive home. We folded the tent and the tarp, which weren't too wet, and headed home. It was a good thing because about half way home, Evan vomited in the car. He was really sick and that was keeping him from sleeping. After cleaning him up, he went right to sleep. Katelyn ended up sleeping in our bed for the night and it turned out to be a great family experience. We'll try to go for maybe 2 nights the next time we plan a camping trip!
