Our Cuties

You'll see Katelyn in her first ponytail. She's just adorable. I wish we had filmed her reaction, though when I first put her hair up. She was standing, staring at the mirror, and she did not like the way her hair looked. She had a complete look of disgust on her face. It was priceless. Now that she's had a ponytail for 3 straight days, her hair doesn't stand up straight anymore - it actually looks like a ponytail. So fun to have a girl!

The other picture shows Evan and Katelyn having a great time together. They mean so much to us!!!

Playtime

It's so fun to watch Katelyn try to mimic everything that Evan does. It reminds me so much of the videos of Molly imitating everything that Kristen and I did. It's such a joy to watch them play together.

Halloween 2011

Tonight was a fun night. We dressed the kids in their costumes (Evan - Buzz Lightyear, Katelyn - a cat) and went to Chipotle for dinner. Then we went to a church near us called the River's Edge. They had a festival going on with a jumper, games, and candy. The kids had a great time.

Pumpkin Patch

We took the kids to the pumpkin patch today. Evan had a blast on the jumpers that they had there. They both also enjoyed climbing on the hay stacks. It was funny to me because Evan had been talking about how he wanted a BIG pumpkin and then we only came home with two mini pumpkins. He just didn't find a big one that he wanted.

So Cute!

Evan and Katelyn were "sleeping" together on the couch yesterday. It was super cute. I love when they are getting along and playing together!

Swimming Lessons

Evan and Katelyn finished up their 2 weeks of swimming lessons. Katelyn is a total water baby and passed with flying colors. Ken said that today another parent even commented that she was the "All Star" of her class. Evan likes to swim, but doesn't enjoy the back float - at all. He made great progress over the 2 weeks though and did a great job blowing bubbles, kicking, and starting to swim with his arms.

Haircut!

We decided to cut Evan's hair today on our own in an attempt to be gazelle-focused (read Total Money Makeover) and to give him a new look. He looks very handsome and loves his new cut.

Jesus and His Disciples

Evan got to go to the Christian Bookstore today to pick out any toy that he wanted because he stayed dry during the night 10 nights. We thought he'd pick a Veggietales toy, but it was taking him forever to find just the right toy. Then I found this one toy and showed it to him and he immediately wanted to take it home to play with. It's a Jesus figurine, 13 small figurines of his disciples (the 13th disciple being the one who replaced Judas), and a boat. He LOVES it. It is so cute listening to his dialogue for the characters. He's at such a fun age where his imagination runs wild. He was talking about their beards, which ones have kids, and just other fun topics - not Bible related - but fun topics.

So Much Fun Together!

Evan and Katelyn love to play together. This was a cute moment yesterday with them playing in the laundry basket while Ken pushed them around the house. Today Evan would hide (in the same place over and over) and Katelyn would come and find him. They both loved it!

Who says my daughter doesn't have hair?

Katelyn has taken a longer route to grow hair because she's been focusing on her athletic skills like walking and throwing (she has quite a throw)! But just look, you'll see how stylish her hair is now!

Our Little Walker

We were finally able to get a video of Katelyn walking. She's definitely starting to get more comfortable with standing and also with walking. The video has two short walks in it. She also had her longest walk before that, but we didn't get that one on video. By the way, our little girl is quite the ham. She's going to be one funny kid. Evan's a hoot too, but he's beginning to turn shy.

Fierce Bad Rabbit

As a baby shower gift for Evan, we were given the Complete Peter Rabbit Library. One of the books in that set is called The Story of a Fierce Bad Rabbit. Ken and Evan read that book a few weeks ago and Ken loved it because the story is all about these two rabbits and then a man with a gun enters the scene and shoots at the mean rabbit. Ken would just crack up at the story and so Evan began to love the book also. Soon enough Evan had the words memorized. It's amazing how close he can recite the story to the actual words. I hope you can hear him okay. He's quite animated telling the story.

A Fully Mobile Baby!

Katelyn began to officially crawl on Sunday. Throughout the week she mastered the art. Today was the first day that we really saw her crawl around the house. We're in trouble now since she loves my scrapbook paper! Here's a video of her crawling. Of course she goes for the cardboard sticks, but she really does love her maracas. They are one of her favorite toys!

First Tooth!

Katelyn's first tooth popped through today. You can't see it in the picture, but just know it's there!

Puzzles!

Evan is a puzzle king. He loves to do them and will stay for long periods of time just working on a puzzle. We started with the simple puzzles when he was one. Now that he's three we had a few 24 piece puzzles. He'd finish those so quickly. Recently we bought him 48 piece puzzles and he can do those independently (and pretty quick). It's amazing how he can just pick up one piece and know right away where it goes. In fact, once he's seen a puzzle one time he has great photographic memory to remember how to put it together a second time. Now that he has mastered the 48 piece puzzles, we're moving on to 100 piece puzzles. He needs some assistance with those, but can do most of it on his own. We call him our genius - and now he calls himself that too!

Katelyn Begins to Move!

Katelyn has begun scooting around the house - ever so slowly. She'll be in one spot and then a few minutes later you'll notice that she's in another spot. She hasn't figured out the crawl thing yet as you can see from this video, but she really wants to!

Katelyn Laughing

I know I talk about this all the time, but Katelyn just adores Evan and Evan just adores Katelyn. They are so good with each other. Here's a video of Evan jumping off the couch and Katelyn laughing at him.

Almost 8 Months

Katelyn will be 8 months old in 2 days. She still brings so much joy...and lately a lot of drool as she starts teething. And she loves to stand! I'm amazed at how strong her legs are. I can already leave her standing at this toy and walk away. It's nice now that we have carpet on the floor - I don't have to worry about her banging her head if she falls.

Evan Just Loves Katelyn!

After waking up from his nap today, Evan was in such a great mood. He came out and asked to hold Katelyn on his lap. Then he was hugging and kissing her. Evan is a GREAT big brother!

Katelyn's First Food

We started Katelyn on rice cereal today. She did a great job. She was so ready for solids. Now I hope that this will help her to sleep through the night.

Seattle

We just got back from Seattle today. What a fun trip we had. With 4 little ones, Molly and I rarely left the house. Ken and Damon took Evan and Ella for a walk around Green Lake and they also went to the park. We all did venture out to church which was our one full outing with all of us. And all except Damon went to Seattle Children's Museum on Monday and that was just a blast!
