Katelyn's Dedication

Here's a video of Katelyn's dedication for those of you who couldn't be there. Thanks Kristen for the video.

Evan and Katelyn

Evan and Katelyn both adore each other. It's fun to watch as they interact more. I can't wait for her to really play with toys and see how they are with each other. Here's a cute video of them. You can experience just how loud Katelyn is!

Christmas 2010

Christmas was a blessed day. Evan loved opening presents for himself and Katelyn. We were able to spend time with family throughout the month also to celebrate. And soon we'll be off to Seattle to celebrate with Damon, Molly, Ella, and Reese.

Evan's Birthday

Evan turned 3 the day after Christmas. We celebrated with friends at My Gym the week before his birthday. On his actual birthday, we took him to Pretend City in Irvine. Both celebrations were so much fun. He loved it all!

Katelyn at 5 weeks

Here's a video of Katelyn last week. She was so adorable under the mobile, but was starting to get tired by the time I got the video camera. The video still turned out cute. Ken and I were also just talking about how much Katelyn looks like Evan when he was about the same age. They have such similar faces.

Evan and Daddy Singing

Ken is home with Evan and Katelyn 3 days during the week while I'm at work (for the next 3 weeks). Today was their first day together and here's a video of how they spent their time. It's so cute!

Evan and Katelyn

Today was Katelyn's 5th day. Evan is absolutely enamored with her. He loves being able to hold, touch, and kiss her. So far he's adjusted well to her as she joins our family. He's had a lot of attention from the grandparents this week so hopefully he'll still do well next week as life settles down a bit.

Evan Meets Katelyn

Katelyn was born on Saturday morning, July 17th. Evan came to the hospital later to meet her. Here is a video of him meeting her. I'll upload some pictures of them later.

Swim Lessons

This is Evan's second year of swim lessons. He's done much better this year. He loves to jump in the water. His tummy float is much improved. He will sometimes let go of us to paddle with his arms (we of course are still holding him). He is getting better at going underwater. He still hates to blow bubbles and do the back float. Today was picture day so here are a few pictures and videos.

Movie Theater

Evan and I went to his first movie at the theater today. They are doing a Tuesday morning movie for $1 each week. Today was Madagascar. We lasted 45 minutes which I thought was pretty good. He did fine in his own seat while eating the snacks that I brought. Then when the movie first started they kept some of the lights on and he did okay. Then when the lights went dark he didn't like that so I moved him to my lap. Then after 45 minutes he was ready to leave. As we walked out he said, "Too loud." It was a fun experience - one I'm glad only cost us $2. We may go back next week and see how he does with Madagascar 2.

World Cup

So we have really enjoyed watching World Cup games this year. This morning was hilarious as we watched the US and Algeria. I get pretty excited each time there is a shot on goal. Evan was sitting next to me and he said, "Soccer no good." I said, "Why, because Mommy yells?" He said, "Yeah, Mommy loud." It was so funny! I love this kid. Thankfully he was deep into a video when the US finally scored so he didn't seem to be bothered too much by the loud yells from both Ken and me (okay, mainly me).

Evan Working Out With Dad

Here's a cute video of Evan and Daddy doing "Daddy's Gym" together. It's one of my favorite things to watch. It's really cute when Evan grabs his 1 pound weights to work out with.

Evan Pics

Sorry it's been awhile. Here are some updated pics of Evan. The one with the box on his head shows the boo-boo that he has on his face. He fell while walking home from the pool and did a total face plant. It was so sad, but he's starting to heal now.

New Haircut

Well, Evan's hair was beginning to look more and more like a little girl so it was time for a big boy haircut. Mom is still getting used to the change, while dad thinks it's the greatest look ever. Here are some pictures for you to decide.

1st Popsicle

So you may not think that having your first Popsicle would be worthy of being on a blog, but Evan eating his first Popsicle at dinner tonight was priceless. His face was hilarious and he loved it. He would only lick it and therefore ate very little of it, but it was so funny! I love this boy!!

Potty Training Update

Well, after our perfect day with no accidents, the next two days were filled with multiple accidents. Then I went back to work and we decided that it just wasn't time to continue with the training. Ultimately, he just isn't ready. And I've comes to terms with the fact that he just might still be in diapers when the next baby comes along. We'll just wait for him to be ready!

Potty Training Day 4

Today was a weird day. Starting with last night, Evan wouldn't go to bed until 10:30! 3 hours past bedtime! He was wired and must have know it was New Year's! And he's learned a trick that if he says, "poo-poo" mommy and daddy come and get him out of bed! Boy, he's already using that one! So we went to bed late and then he woke up around 5:30am (way too early). I stayed up with him while Ken went back to sleep (I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep anymore). So the really good news is that his underwear was DRY in the morning! Yeah! However, the late night, early morning, and pregnancy tiredness are not a good combination. I was quite the tired, emotional mother today. Since it was day 4 we let off of potty training a little too much in the morning. He had quite a few accidents which was really frustrating. Then Ken and I calmed down, reread parts of the book that we're following and started the day again. Everything went better from there. We encouraged him to keep his underwear dry and had him check it about every 10 minutes. He only had one accident after that and that was while eating dinner where a little pee came out, but he finished on the potty. So, after 4 days, he's really learned how to hold his bladder, but he still hasn't learned how to tell us when he needs to go. Either that or he just chooses not to because he doesn't want to stop whatever he's doing. I lean more towards the second reason. But the night ended on a positive note. He was playing with us. He stopped and said something about needing to go potty and Ken took him where he completed his business. We pray that he got enough out to make it through the night dry. And we pray that he stays asleep...or learns to cry in bed because we aren't going to keep taking him out of bed tonight. We have a birthday to celebrate tomorrow! And we also pray that he keeps his underwear dry during the party tomorrow!!!
